Privacy Policy

Julie AI ("we", "our", or "the app") is operated by NDI Development. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Summary: We store your conversations to make Julie remember you. We don't sell your data. You can delete everything at any time from Settings.

1. Information We Collect

Account identifier. When you first open the app, a random unique ID (UUID) is generated on your device. We do not require your name, email, phone number, or any account registration.

Conversations. Messages you send and Julie's replies are stored on our server so Julie can maintain context within a conversation and across sessions.

Remembered information. Julie automatically extracts key details from your conversations (such as your name if you share it, interests, and topics discussed) to personalize future responses. This happens periodically during conversation.

Device information. We collect basic device info (platform — Android or iOS) and app version for compatibility and debugging purposes.

Push notification token. If you grant notification permission, we store your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token to send you push notifications when Julie replies while the app is in the background.

Usage events. We log basic usage events (such as app opens) to understand how the app is used. We do not track your activity outside of Julie AI.

2. How We Use Your Data

Provide the service: Your messages are sent to third-party AI models (via OpenRouter) to generate Julie's responses.
Personalization: Remembered information is included in Julie's context so she can have natural, continuous conversations with you.
Push notifications: Your FCM token is used solely to deliver Julie's replies when the app is backgrounded.
Improvements: Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve the app experience.
Safety: Messages may be reviewed for content policy compliance (e.g., detecting harmful content).

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

OpenRouter — Routes messages to AI language models to generate Julie's responses. Messages are sent to their API. See OpenRouter's privacy policy.
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — Delivers push notifications. See Firebase's privacy policy.
Google AdMob — Displays advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. See Google's privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on a secured server hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/WSS) for all data transmission between the app and our server.

Some data is also cached locally on your device (recent messages, settings, and memory) using encrypted local storage.

5. Data Retention

We retain your conversations and memory data for as long as you use the app. Data associated with inactive accounts (no activity for 12 months) may be automatically deleted.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Delete all your data — Use the "Delete My Data" button in Settings. This permanently removes your conversations, memory, sessions, events, and user record from our server.
Access your data — Your remembered information (name, interests, facts) is visible in the app.
Opt out of notifications — Disable notifications in your device settings or in the app.

For EU/EEA users: you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Children's Privacy

Julie AI is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Advertising

Julie AI displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and cookies to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings:

Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization
iOS: Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising > Turn off Personalized Ads

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
